In 2001 Pat Armitstead declared herself to be the Worlds First Joyologist. She is a Keynote Speaker, Facilitator and Coach of Joyology and is specialized in Transforming Individual and Workplace Wellbeing. She has delivered over 1000 keynotes, and has featured alongside speaking greats such as Jack Canfield, Dr John Demartini and Patricia Fripp. She has won 5 speaking awards including New Zealand National Speakers Association “Speaker of the Year”, the highest honour awarded by that association. She is Referred to as “Australasias answer to Patch Adams and is the epitome of good humour, unwavering positivity and creativity. Her vision is to be a voice for all that is joyful about humanity. 

She hosted New Zealands Humour in the Workplace Awards for 3 years, and has toured internationally with Patch Adams. Pat has transformed 1000’s of lives through her events and her multi award winning radio program, which was honoured with a Civic Mayoral Reception for its contribution to the countries wellbeing.  Her unique personal perspectives, traumatic past, repeated losses and eventual mastery as a Multi Award Winning Speaker, TV and Radio Host and Exhibiting Artist are a rare combination of talents. A master storyteller she combines Positive Psychology principles, Emotional Intelligence, and Neuroscience with real human experiences to bring understanding and meaning to life events. She has written 2 books and co-authored another 6,  and is writing her third Joyful Empowerment – The only way out is through.

Pat says “You cant lift your bottom line if people are down” and with social, emotional and conversational intelligence we can influence and reduce the current incidence of stress related illness, anxiety, depression and suicide ideation. Her Mental Health in the Workplace program was most recently delivered to 450 leaders in a company with 26,000 staff, showing them how they can bring joy when it seems there is none!
